Has the mouse killer finally arrived?

Most of us might have first used a touchscreen at ATMs or similar interactive public kiosks. Many of us would have tried the check out kiosks at supermarkets to escape the long queue. We might think of touchscreen as a relatively new technology and hardly many know it was invented back in 1971 by Doctor Sam Hurst, founder of Elographics. The first "touch sensor" developed by him evolved to become the first prototype of the touchscreen in 1974. However, it never became the mainstay in allowing users to communicate with the computer. The mouse took over, with hardly any competition. With improvement in both hardware and software, touchscreen has been steadily gaining popularity even to the extent of being called the mouse killer.
